Salary will vary with qualifications and experience; however, starting salary is $25,000 for an 11 month teaching year (Aug to June). Benefits include paid holidays, paid sick time and two personal days after completion of a 90 day probationary period with additional vacation after the first year of employment. A cafeteria plan of benefits is included after completion of the probationary period: $200 per month for employee’s choice from a wide variety of individual policies including health, life, vision, accident, hospitalization and other policies. Please note: We do have dental insurance but do not offer a group major medical plan but our healthcare plan does meet the Obamacare requirements. Funds are available for training and travel. Employees receive half price childcare for all children enrolled at any Step By Step location.
This teaching position is 5 to 6 hours per day for one group of 20 children aged 3 to 5 years old (with a full time assistant teacher). We have had an established ISBE Pre-K program embedded within a licensed childcare center for over 15 years. The position begins August 1st and our Pre-K calendar year usually runs through mid-June. The Teacher is responsible for assessment (Early Learning Scale) and instruction (Creative Curriculum format). Hours for the position will be approx. 7:30 to 1:30 with a one hour lunch break.
Current IL Teacher Certification with Early Childhood Endorsement
We are looking for a Full time Assistant Teacher at our Bethalto Program. This position is 40 hours per week with benefits. Hours are set to be M-F 8:45am-5:45pm. A set schedule is determined upon hire and may be adjusted based on the needs of the program. Our hours of operation are 6:30am-6:00pm, and hours will adjust within this time frame accordingly.
Salary Range: Based on position, education, and credential level. Starting salary ranges between $9.25 - $11.50 + benefits (including medical, dental, vacation, sick, retirement, etc) and bonuses available. In addition scholarships are available to continue your education to grow within our company.

Duties:Some, but not all duties include:
Assist in a quality classroom that ensures the safety of children and staff at all times
Lead the classroom in the absence of the lead teacher.
Assure the classroom is in compliance with regulatory agencies at all times
Communicate and maintain positive working relationships with parents and staff daily
Interact with children within the program at their level
Follow and complete Cleaning Checklists
Assure children are changed regularly
Complete and follow through with lesson plans and child assessments daily
Assure classroom responsibilities are completed daily
